WE WELCOME TO MEMBERSHIP 127 NCU LEARNERS AND MENTORS, PLUS ONE TRANSFER LEARNER
FOR A TOTAL OF 128 NEW MEMBERS. ADE CHAPTER NOW HAS 241 MEMBERS! NOT BAD
FOR A SIX-MONTH OLD CHAPTER.

THE RECORDS OF OUR DECEMBER INITIATION HAVE BEEN TRANSFERRED TO KDP HEADQUARTERS
AND KDP HEADQUARTERS WILL SEND MEMBERSHIP CARDS/NUMBERS AND OTHER
INTRODUCTORY MATERIALS WITHIN THE NEXT MONTH OR SO. ADE CHAPTER WILL MAIL
MEMBERSHIP CERTIFICATES AS SOON AS WE CAN GET THEM PRINTED AND IN THE
MAIL. WE HOPE TO MAIL THEM BY VALENTINE'S DAY. IF YOU DON'T HAVE
YOURS BY THE END OF FEBRUARY, PLEASE LET US KNOW.

DR. ROBINSON HOPES TO HAVE THE MEMBER CERTIFICATES COMPLETED BY MID-FEBRUARY.
THE CERTIFICATES AND THE "SO TO TEACH" BOOKLET WILL BE MAILED AS SOON
AS POSSIBLE, HOPEFULLY BY MID-FEBRUARY.

The Executive committee considered a proposed change to the Graduation Regalia
Policy that would allow graduates with a GPA of 3.7 or above (instead of 4.0) to
wear the KDP Honor Medal along with the Honor Cord at graduation. The proposal
was debated and voted. It was not passed so the existing policy stands.

KDP has sent a message to our new initiates welcoming them to KDP and providing
member numbers. The letter assumes that you go to a brick and mortar university
and that you received your new member certificate and the "So to
Teach" booklet at your initiation. Unfortunately, the letter invites you to
contact KDP Membership if you haven't received the certificate/booklet.
As stated above, our chapter packets are constructed and assembled by our
chapter Counselor, Dr. Robinson. Each certificate must be printed and signed. We
estimated Valentine's Day as a tentative mailing date and we should be close to
that.
However, several of our members forgot that schedule or didn't understand it
because they have sent messages to KDP Membership asking where their "So to
Teach" booklets are. That resulted in queries from KDP Membership about why
we aren't completing our responsibilities to our members. Now that we have
clarified our process with headquarters, they understand that they need to
modify their letter.
However, it points out the necessity for all members of ADE Chapter to check
this discussion list and the chapter website for information. Please help us to
look like we know what we are doing. Thank you, Mike

We are looking for a chapter Secretary to replace Rob Lively who had to resign
due to other responsibilities. We thank rob for his work in support of the
chapter and wish his success in his program. the vacancy was announced on the
ADE chapter discussion folder in the NCU/Honor Societies Discussion area.

Just returning from the HLC Reaccreditation visit at NCU. All seems well with
the reaccreditation, but I found that there are no plans for a banquet the
evening before graduation and therefore no forum for us to recognize our members
who are graduating. We don't really have enough money in the bank to
sponsor an event on our own so I'll see if the Business honor society might want
to go in together. I'd appreciate your thoughts on the matter.

The Executive Committee met on 5 March to discuss several items, including
filling the vacant Secretary position. we had two highly qualified candidates
and we are very grateful to both of them for offering their services.
The Committee has offered the position to Janet Holzhauer and she has accepted
the offer. Janet will hold the position on an appointed basis until the election
of officers in May/June (tbd).
Please join us in welcoming Janet as our new Secretary!

We are starting to plan for our annual meeting, which we are trying to schedule
for mid-June shortly after the next initiation. Hopefully, we will use the
Telspan meeting software so that we can have everyone connected by toll-free
phone for audio and by computer for video. That way everyone can hear the
speakers and see what they are presenting at the same time. We would like your
suggestions for topics to be covered. Please post your suggestions on the NCU
Honor Society discussion board.

Acceptances of membership offers are due today. Registration forms must be
completed by 3 May and payment of dues and fees is due at NCU by 17 May.

We have 140 acceptances for the May 2008 initiation!

We have received registration forms from 110 of the candidates who accepted the
offer of membership. The deadline for payment of dues is 17 May.

We initiated 105 new members as of today.

We lost about 100 of our 340 members to non-renewal. This is a new experience
for us and don't know how many are due to program completion, departure from the
university, or other conditions. Please don't forget to renew. KDP is one
of the best investments you can make in your career in education.

Invitations have been sent to all SoE students with a 3.8 GPA and 15 semester
hours at NCU.

We have 110 registrations for the 11 October initiation.

The Executive Board has determined that ADE Chapter will follow the
"Standard" model under KDP's new chapter model schema.
10-03-2008
The October 2008 initiation process starts today and ends on Saturday, 10
October.
